Up by three at the half and eventually winning by six Cleveland State bested Roane State in a
conference contest 63-57 on Wednesday January 11 moving their overall record to 7-4 and
conference mark to 4-2.
Cougar Head Coach Evelyn Thompson reflected on the win saying: “We knew Roane as always
would be challenging but we pulled together and came away with the tough victory.” Thompson went on to say that down the stretch Destiny Remy really stepped up knocking down some key shots in coming away with a career high 19 points.
Tionna Baker joined Remy in double figures with a team leading 20 points pulling down seven
rebounds while Laney Bone tossed in 14. Latisha Parris ran the floor with abandon with five steals and five assists. The Cougars were 11 of 13 from the charity stripe as Baker led the way with a perfect 5-for-5.
On Saturday January 14 the Cougar Women play another conference game hosting Roane State at 2:00 p.m. in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium on the Campus of Cleveland State. Admission charge for the public is $8 per person. There is no charge for the Cleveland State students.
