James "Jim" Russell Cox
James Russell "Jim" Cox, 79, of Rossville, Georgia, went to be with the Lord Tuesday night.
He was born and raised in Kentucky and had lived in Chattanooga and North Georgia for over 60 years.
He was the former owner of Aunt Effie’s Restaurant for 31 years in Ringgold. Jim was known to many as “Big Jim” or “Uncle Effie”. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Vietnam War. Everyone who knew him would tell you he was a die hard “Roll Tide” and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. Jim also loved cheering on his grandchildren at their practices and games and never missed one of them.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Louise Cox; sister, Phyllis Yokum; brother, Dale Cox both were from Kentucky.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Janie Cox; sons, Terry Lamar(Sherri) Cox, Christopher Cox both of Rossville, Jeff Cox of California; grandchildren, Cody Cox, Katelyn Cox and Eli Cox all of Rossville, Heather Burgess of Fort Oglethorpe and Haley Cox of Florida; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly…Jim was a great “Pepaw” to them all; sisters, Marianne Dean and Susie Ramsey and a brother, Larry Cox, all from Kentucky.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 4-9 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 15, from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour of 3 p.m.
Funeral service will be on Oct. 15, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Quinn officiating.
Entombment will at Chattanooga National Cemetery will be on Monday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m.
