The Cleveland City Board of Education voted Monday unanimously to approve the 2023-2024 budget, which includes an additional $2.4 million in employee compensation for the upcoming school year.
The approved compensation includes pay raises for all full-time employees and an increase in the starting teacher salary to a minimum of $50,000 per year. It comes four years ahead of Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee’s proposal to bring the minimum teacher salary to $50,000 by 2027.
“We are honored to show our support and appreciation to our exceptional employees with additional employee compensation,” Dr.
Russell Dyer said. “We are so grateful for their continued commitment to our students in Cleveland City Schools.”
This funding is made possible by the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) Act, which was signed into law by Gov. Bill Lee in May 2022.
