The Chattanooga Division of Transportation announces the following construction and paving updates:
Construction Closures/Updates:
100 East Main Street / Mitchell Street
The following traffic patterns will be in place Monday, June 5 through Wednesday, July 12 to allow for the demolition of 100 E. Main Street:
• Full closure of Mitchell Street between E. Main Street and E. 16th Street;
• E. Main between Rossville Avenue and Mitchell Street will see a lane shift which includes the temporary removal of several street parking spaces in the westbound lanes; and
• Sidewalk closure on Mitchell Avenue and E.
Main Street around the demolition site.
Veterans Bridge Southbound Ramp to Riverfront Parkway Westbound.
The ramp from Veterans Bridge southbound to Riverfront Parkway westbound will be closed Tuesday, June 6 until Saturday, June 10 for work adjacent to the right-of-way.
1225 Cowart Street
Cowart Street between Market Street and W. 13th Street will close Wednesday, June 7 for a crane lift. Detours will be posted.
2023 Paving and Resurfacing Updates:
The City of Chattanooga in coordination with Talley Construction, has added the firm of Spears & Hopkins as a paving contractor to assist in the final push to complete the 2022-2023 Resurfacing Plan. The number of roadways seeing brief delays while paving takes place will double in the coming weeks. No full closures are expected, but delays may be experienced as temporary flagging around single-lane closures occur.
Portions of the following roadways will see paving and resurfacing work for the weeks of Monday, June 5 through Friday, June 16:
