Jeannette Brown Eldridge, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 29, 2024, surrounded by her family, in her hometown of Chattanooga, Tn.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Eldridge, her parents Urania and Hubert Brown, sisters Betty Duggan and Phoebe Hamilton, and granddaughter, Charlotte Hamner.

She is survived by son John Eldridge (Karen), daughters Jenny Dullen (Bob) and Carol Tigar (Chuck), five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger brother, Carey Brown. Jeannette will be greatly missed by her family and friends alike.

Jeannette was born on Dec. 3, 1930. She graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1947. After graduating from business school, she worked for the Railway Express Agency until her marriage to Robert. Together they raised a wonderful and loving family. When her youngest child Carol entered junior high, she returned to work in the dental claims department for Provident/Unum. She retired in 1993 and, with Robert, enjoyed bus traveling across the United States including memorable trips to Branson, Missouri, New England, and an Alaska cruise.

Jeannette was dedicated to her family, constantly building memories that her children continue to treasure to this day. She had an independent spirit that often led her to support and love others without judgment.

Jeannette was an active member of Hixson Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. She had a servant’s heart and served the Lord and others through many ministries, such as organizing Prime Timer events and helping on the Kitchen Committee.

The family would like to send special thanks and gratitude to Hearth Hospice, especially Sherry and Belynda, as well as all the loving and caring staff at Martin Boyd, and to all the other earthly angels that were sent to care for Jeannette and her family—we truly saw the hand of God at work.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Johnson officiating, Interment to follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Hearth Hospice, 513 Georgia Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37403; or Martin Boyd Christian Home, 6845 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
