U.S. Navy Veteran And Retired From TVA

Jerry Wayne Cook, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 3, 2026.

Jerry was born in Kentucky on Feb. 4, 1943. After graduating from high school in Columbus, Indiana, he attended Washburn University in Topeka, Ks. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served in naval aviation. Following his military service he enrolled at Purdue University and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He began his career at TVA and worked in the field of electrical power construction and generation. He served on national power boards and was a member of the Electrical Power Research Institute. After his retirement he worked with FEMA and held various positions in the electric power industry in the northeastern states.

He was a charter member and faithful congregant at Signal Mountain Bible Church. Jerry was a Gideon and was active in the Chattanooga Camp.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon Welch Cook, and son Jeffrey Wayne Cook. Also surviving is a brother, Max Dodge of Murray, Kentucky.

A memorial service will be held at Signal Mountain Bible Church on Friday, Feb. 13, at 3 p.m., with Dr. Gary Phillips officiating. Burial will be a private service at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Signal Mountain Bible Church Mission Board.
