Alvin Bird Tripp, 79, of Ooltewah, died on Monday, September 30, 2002, in a local hospital.

Born in Logan, Utah, Mr. Tripp was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of Collegedale Seventh-Day Church. He was a retired teacher from Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe High School. He had also taught for 15 years for the Southern Union Conference of SDA.

Survivors include his wife, Anne W. Tripp; three daughters, Glenda Morey of Chattanooga, Beverly Porter of McDonald and Debby Icet of Ooltewah; a son, Donny Tripp of McDonald; six grandchildren, Michelle and Julie Porter, Shasta Johnson and John Porter, all of McDonald, Keldren and Kennan Icet of Ooltewah; three sisters, Uvonne Coulson and Colleen Tripp, both of Salem, Oregon and Eloise Deacon of Clackamas, OR.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Herman and Pastor Dwight Herod officiating.

Burial will be at Collegedale Memorial Park.
