Karen Buckner
Karen Jean Buckner, 43, of Flintstone, died in her sleep at her residence on Wednesday, March 19, 2008.
Born September 12, 1964 in Chattanooga, Karen attended Chattanooga Valley Elementary before moving to West Tennessee in 1973. There, she attended schools in Germantown and Jackson, Tn., graduating High School at Jackson Central-Merry. Karen was a graduate of Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville.
Karen was both a student and teacher. She was a lifetime learner, attending Northwest Technical College since her move back to Walker County in 2000. She was also an instructor at Northwestern Tech, well-loved by students in Math and English for her vision of their potential and the inspiration she provided.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Margie Buckner, Edward H Verzyl, Betty Verzyl.
She is survived by her parents, Pat and Jim Buckner, Flintstone; brothers, Ken (Pat) Buckner, Maryville, Tn., and Keith (Michelle) Buckner, Flintstone. She is also survived by nieces, Erica, Paige, Kristen, and Hope Buckner, and nephew Brett Buckner. She has one living grandparent, W. Howard Buckner, Flintstone.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, at 4 p.m. at the Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church Cemetery near her home, conducted by Jon Bemis, pastor of Chattanooga Valley Church of the Nazarene, and her uncle, David Verzyl, pastor of Albertville, Al., Church of the Nazarene.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 pm. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
