Kelly, Robert W. "Bob," 79, died on Wednesday, June 18,2008, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Washington,DC. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, S. Austin Kelly and Johnnie Roan Alverson, and brother, Kenneth D. Alverson.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a Viet Nam veteran. Prior to moving to Washington, D.C., he resided in Hartselle, Al., and was a member of the American Legion Post 237. He grew up in Hartselle and Chattanooga.
He is survived by his sisters, Louise Hardwick, Woodstock, Ga., Betty Myers, Weatherford, Tx., brother, David (Barbara) Alverson, Ooltewah, sister-in-law, Vet Alverson, Lake Worth, Tx., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Air Force Captain, Chaplain Russ Ragon and Rev. Ronald Ragon officiating.
