UTC tackle Keyon Reed has been suspended from the team pending the outcome of an arrest for domestic assault.
The case had been set in General Sessions Court this morning, but was passed to Oct. 24.
UTC spokesman Chuck Cantrell said Reed, 20, also faces a student conduct investigation. He remains enrolled in classes.
A female told police she had invited Reed over "as a friend" on Sept. 6 because "she wanted a male around until she and her roommates felt comfortable again" after being burglarized.
She said she and Reed had been in a relationship, but she had told him three weeks earlier that she wanted to downgrade it to "friends only."
She said she picked up Reed at the UTC campus and brought him to her home on N. Market Street. She said she made pizza and snacks and they began to watch a movie. She said Reed made a pass at her, but she "told him that she did not want to be intimate with him."
She said he then became physical with her and held her down on the bed face down. She said he pulled her arms behind her back and was on top of her. She said there was no sexual assault involved.
She said she turned her head back to try and turn over to push him off. She said the 6'2", 245-pound Reed head-butted her in her right temple. She said this made her black out temporarily.
She said she crawled to the bathroom and locked herself inside. She said when she realized that Reed did not have a way back to the campus, she came out and dropped him off back at campus.
Reed, a redshirt freshman from Palm Bay, Fla., has started two of UTC's three games this season.
