Three-year-old Jonas Henry from Chattanooga, Tenn. is a big fan of the fire department. Children’s Hospital safety educator, Kimberly Stephens, helped him put on the gloves and helmet.
Sydney Lawson, a three-year-old from Hixson, decorated a cookie to match her holiday outfit.
Kohl’s Department Store and Children’s Hospital at Erlanger Safe and Sound Program hosted a holiday safety fair Saturday at the department store on Highway 153. During the fair, Kohl’s presented Children’s Hospital with a check for $61,987 to support children’s health and education in the community.
“We are able to raise this money through Kohl’s Care Merchandise sales at area stores,” said Kohl’s district manager, Charles Smith. “Our company’s focus is on health and education. It is great to be able to donate to Children’s Hospital and keep the proceeds in our community.”
Kohl’s shoppers not only enjoyed the holiday deals in the store Saturday; some also saw a surprise fly-over provided by Erlanger’s LIFE FORCE air medical team. Children’s Hospital and Kohl’s employees were also available to share tips with the adults on holiday safety and play games or decorate cookies with the children.
“This is our second year partnering with Kohl’s and working with area agencies such as the Chattanooga fire and police departments to host a safety fair,” said Coy Ellis, Safe and Sound Program coordinator. “We are extremely fortunate to work with so many people who care about the families in our community.”
Kohl’s has been a proud partner of Children’s Hospital since 2006 donating $292,114 to educate the public about pediatric healthcare and safety.
