Bright School Receives Gift Of Technology

  • Thursday, December 6, 2012

The students and staff of Bright School School received a surprise when Renee Kropff, assistant head of school and director of Technology, presented the news at an all-school assembly that the school had received a gift of technology from the Warren family. The gift will purchase an iPad mobile cart with 20 iPads, a Mac Book Pro, Apple TV appliances, iPad smart cases, resources to support the integration of the iPads in the classroom, as well as a robust and comprehensive wireless infrastructure which supports wireless devices.

O.J. Morgan, head of school, presided over the assembly, which included the students reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the Bright School Song.

Ms. Kropff then stepped forward to receive a present.  Ms. Kropff teased Mr. Morgan and the students about the wrapped gift. “I wonder what’s inside?” Ms. Kropff asked.

When the students discovered that the large, elegantly-wrapped present contained an iPad and the audience learned of the full range of the gift, the auditorium erupted in cheers.

“The learning styles and needs of young children require tactile, visual, and auditory experiences,” said Ms. Kropff.  “Implementing iPads as learning devices will provide unique and rich learning experiences for our students.”

Mr. Morgan said he appreciated the fact that the Warrens thought of the students in making their gift to the school’s Centennial Campaign.

"This is a transformative gift.  As technology continues to open meaningful ways for children to learn, Bright School will continue to be on the forefront of this change while also remaining true to our traditional values of strong academics within the context of a joyful and creative environment," Mr. Morgan said.

“Technology and applications for education are changing rapidly,” said a letter from the Warren family.  “We are delighted to share emerging technology with this school that has meant so much to our family.”

The school serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade. For more information, visit www.brightschool.com.
