Margaret Popp
Margaret Popp, 88, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on February 24, 2011.
She was born December 21, 1923 in Slaton, Texas; and raised in Roswell, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Hattie Carter; brothers, Tom and David Carter and sister Betty Lipsky.
She graduated from Texas Women’s University. Mrs. Popp was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years; currently she was a member of Alpine Baptist Church. She worked for the Girl Scouts in Boston, and retired from teaching at Hixson Junior High School. Mrs. Popp loved the outdoors and teaching.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Walter F. Popp; children Robin Popp, Tom (Starr) Popp, and Eric (Joy) Popp; grandchildren Anakela Popp, Jared Popp, Nathan Popp, Maile Popp, Colton Popp, Haley Popp, Bryson Popp and Selena Popp.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 29, at 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Fowler officiating. A private interment will follow with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 28, from 4-8 p.m., and from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday.
