3rd Annual Bradley County EMS Cook-Off A Success

  • Monday, February 27, 2012

The third annual Code 3 Chili Cook-Off presented by Bradley County Emergency Medical Service was Friday night.

This year’s venue was at the Museum Center at 5 Points. “This was by far the best one yet. We had a great turn out this year,” said Stan Clark.

There were nine contestants who entered their chili concoctions for the public to judge. The awards were divided into four categories; First Place People’s Choice Award, Runner Up People’s Choice, First Place Judges Choice, and Runner Up Judge’s Choice.

The winners this year were as follows: the winners of the People’s Choice Award first place was the team from the Bradley County Fire and Rescue Service. They also took home the runner up trophy in the Judges Choice. Louie and Nancy Alford won first place in the Judges Choice category. Lastly, the team from Cleveland Care First Walk in Medical Clinic won runner up for People’s Choice.

All winners were presented with nice trophies provided by Trophies Unlimited on Mimosa Drive.

“We would like to recognize and give a special thanks to our “celebrity“ judges, Stephen Hatchet from the DA’s office, local attorney Jimmy Logan, and Tammy Watkins from the Cleveland/Bradley 911 Center. We had well over one hundred people in attendance and raised some good money for our Fraternal Order of Emergency Medical Service Workers. The money we raise ultimately filters back into the community from various events and safety programs we do throughout the year,” Mr. Clark said.

The sponsors this year were Sky Ridge Medical Center, WCLE My Mix 104.1, and The Store at 420 3rd St. SW in Cleveland.

“We really appreciate the contributions that these sponsors provided. It is hard to have these events without help from sponsors like these.”
