Shirley Stansell Jones, 88, longtime resident of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, February 4, 2012. 

She was born and raised in Rockford, Il., to George and Pearl Fellows.  She moved to the Chattanooga area after marrying Freddie A. Stansell, Sr.  

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe, and retired from Irwin Enterprises as the office manager. She had been previously employed at Brown and Associates, was a member of the Chattanooga Business Women’s Association serving as an officer and volunteered at Erlanger Hospital and Senior Friends. 

Surviving are her daughter, Sharon (Marty) Keller- Zillich; sons, Johnny (Darlene) Stansell and Freddie (Beckie) Stansell, Jr.; grandchildren, Jeremy Stansell, Blake Stansell, Courtney (Brooks) Edwards, Scott (Holly) Keller, Todd (Linda) Keller and Tracey (Larry) Marsala; seven great-grandchildren; and cousins, Dode and Dale Sawdey residing in Washington State. 

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. 

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, at the funeral home with Dr. David McNabb officiating.  Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson. 

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
