Marvin Glen Spandau 72, of Rossville, died with grace and dignity at home with his loving wife and children at his bedside. Marvin died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 after fighting a lengthy illness.

Marvin was born to Evanda and Glen Spandau in 1939 in Danville, Il. His lifelong passion was the study of electronics, and at one time he owned a T.V. repair shop in Danville. Marvin was employed by Signatrol in Danville for 16 years and he retired as an electronics trouble shooter from Beeler Impression Products in Chattanooga with 28 years of service.

Marvin was a Christian and was of the Baptist faith.  Away from work Marvin enjoyed his time with his family, watching NASCAR, the Food Network and Emeril, camping, and making people laugh. Marvin was the family's "go to guy" if anyone needed a friend or advice, because he was known and trusted for his collective thoughts and rational solutions to problems. Marvin, (Dad) always made things better.

Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Spandau; sister, Susan Spandau; brother Kenneth Spandau; parents, Evanda and Glen Spandau; and granddaughter, Ashley Carter.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Brenda Spandau; children, David Spandau, Billy Spandau, Kathy Evitt, Carrie Carter, Vernon “Buddy” Spandau, and Juli Yang; two sisters, Carolyn Massey and Charlotte Padgett; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Marvin's Hospice Caregivers, Misty and Tina as well as Dr. Bruce Pendley. Misty could always make Marvin laugh and smile on the worst days and she has been taken in as a member of the family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Gary Wilkenson officiating.Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 7, from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
