Charles “Charlie” Blaylock, 87, of Rossville, Georgia, peacefully died early Friday morning, January 25, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Charlie was born on Nov. 29, 1925, in Chattanooga. He had lived most of his life in the North Georgia area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin D. Blaylock, mother, Lillian R. Blaylock; and a brother, William Clark Blaylock.
Survivors are his loving wife of almost 70 years, Mary Durham Blaylock; son, Gary (Charmian) Blaylock, Chickamauga; daughters, Gail (Cloyd) Bell, Sale Creek, Tenn., Brenda Linderman, Rossville, and Lynn (Stuart) Shankles, Rossville; six grandsons and one granddaughter, Paul (Shantel) Blaylock, Chickamauga, Ga. David (Stacey) Blaylock, Chickamauga, Tim (Yolanda) Bell, Bakewell, Tn., Becky (Marty) Shadoan, Somerset, Ky., Mike (Michelle) Linderman, Graysville, Tn., Chris (Christina) Linderman, Rossville, and Darrell (Tiffney) Shankles, Chickamauga; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend David Haynes officiating. Interment will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Chattanooga.
