Billy Clinton “Bill” Mulkey, Sr., 70, of Dalton, GA, died Monday morning, September 30, 2013 at the local hospital.
Bill was born March 19, 1943 in Dalton, GA, a son of the late Alonzo Clinton Mulkey and Clara Bertha Vaughn Mulkey; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Mulkey; a son, Lynn Ash; and a daughter, Tina Croy.
Bill was employed at Rosedale Transportation. He was an active member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his church family. He loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Sheila and Danny Bishop of Dalton, GA, Belinda Rendon of Rome, GA, Rhonda Battle of Talladega, AL and Sonya Payton of Summerville, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Clint and Rose Mulkey of Rocky Face, GA, Hunter Mulkey of Dalton, GA and Scott Ash of Summerville, GA; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and two on the way; sister, Phoebe Cantrell of Ducktown, TN; brother, Leon Parker of Dalton, GA; nephew, Terry Parker of Dalton, GA; special friends, Phyllis Wilson of Chattanooga, TN and Alice Carzell Hughes of Dalton, GA; several other nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Billy Clinton “Bill” Mulkey, Sr. will be held Thursday, October 3, at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Tony Robertson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Clint Mulkey, Hunter Mulkey, Danny Bishop, Scott Ash, Daniel Bishop, Jake Greeson, Brett Amos and Brandon Greeson serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 2 and after 9 a.m. Thursday, October 3 at the Ponders Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
