Mary Godbold
Mary McMillan Godbold, 87, died on Sunday, October 20.
A native of Savannah, Ga., she was a long-time resident of Chattanooga.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother, whose life centered around her family. After her children were older, she entered employment as an Administrator with the State of Tennessee Department of Employment Security. She was an active member of St. Jude Catholic church, where she was involved in Ladies of Charity, the Bridge Club and was a Scouting leader.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gustave Sidney Godbold Sr.; parents, E.B and Annie O’Brien McMillan; brother, Thomas McMillan and sister, Elizabeth McMillan Downing.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Marie (Thomas) Fox; sons, Gustave S. Godbold Jr. and Christopher A. (Connie) Godbold; grandchildren, Thomas L. (Tara) Fox Jr., Anthony D. Fox, Kathleen E. Godbold and Gustave S. Godbold III and his mother, Carolyn Manzer.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the North Chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, at St. Jude Catholic Church with entombment to follow at approximately 3:30 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, P.O. Box 46, Chattanooga, Tn. 37401, or to Notre Dame High School, 2701 Vermont Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.
