"Preserving" Lincoln Park - And Response

RE:  Roy Exum:  It's About The Road, Silly!

Roy,

If that same five acres of land at the Lincoln Park neighborhood had been donated to honor some civil war event that took place well over a century ago, which that area has an abundance of, your negative opinion piece would be the polar opposite. You'd be praising the mayor and everyone involved as "preserving" a great piece of history. Nuf said.

I am just wondering what is the problem!? Are you trying to stir up some kind of political crap or what?  There were a lot of people that died a long time ago and just because we're not sensitive to it because it is not "relative" and in the now, these were men.  They were fathers, sons, uncles, and nephews. It was a different army that we know now... they had to fight and/or wanted to protect their lands.

Even though I'm a second generation in the U.S.A., it's good to know your history.  Did you know that the Republicans wanted slaves to be able to vote after the Yankees won?  I didn't, I've learned a lot. The Democrats blocked the vote. It took almost 100 years to make it fair.

I have a problem with disrespecting people's heritage/ancestors. I know there are 100 things about the south (and the Republicans were not the south) but there are peoples' lineage that I'm not a part of but friends talk about and so sad how black and white things are only around here.
