Choose Judge Bailey's Replacement Wisely

  • Thursday, February 14, 2013

Congratulations to Judge Suzanne Bailey for her great career as Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge.

I personally recall Suzanne as a young, energetic lawyer who always fought hard for her clients.

Also, I remember her as my first base coach on one of my little league baseball teams I coached.  Our sons played on that team together.  I am proud to say she is a personal friend.

While I am happy for Judge Bailey in her retirement, I realize it will be extremely difficult to replace her.  She has the passion and dedication needed for a juvenile judge.  She works tirelessly each day for our youth.  She has that unique ability to be compassionate in some cases and yet harsh in those cases where it is needed.  She has been able to mentor many youths while protecting our community from others.

The Hamilton County Commission has a difficult and important task in trying to replace Judge Bailey.

I hope they will put politics aside and appoint a judge that has Judge Bailey’s qualities whether it be a Republican, Democrat, or Independent.
