Bruce Grant, 80, of Soddy Daisy, died on Friday, May 10, 2013. 

He was a well-known musician, and taught music to several people. He also enjoyed playing bluegrass music to residents of the nursing home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida Grant; brothers, Norris, Kermit and Granville Grant; and sisters, Rosealee Smith and Mildred Greene.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Ray Grant of Soddy Daisy; son, Darryl Grant (Kelly) of Dayton; daughter, Joan Grant Swafford of Dayton; brother, Willis Grant; sister, Mary Sutherland; stepchildren, Albert Wilkey (Donna), Sandra Smith ( Gerald), Ernestine Perkey ( Jerry), Victor Wilkey, Darvin Wilkey (Kim), 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be on Monday, May 13, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Danny Dowden officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery.

Visitation is on Saturday, May 11, from 4-9 p.m. and Sunday, from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
