Gas Prices Fall 4.5 Cents In Chattanooga

  • Monday, June 24, 2013

Average retail gasoline prices in Chattanooga have fallen 4.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.26 per gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 170 gas outlets in Chattanooga. This compares with the national average that has fallen 3.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.57 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Chattanooga during the past week, prices Sunday were 24.5 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 6.0 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has decreased 9.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 12.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

"Relief continues to show up at pumps in the Great Lakes, while the opposite trend has started in California," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "Gasoline prices are certainly a bit wacky right now across the country with prices moving in difference directions, but from what we saw in the last few days with oil prices, I'm hopeful that most areas of the United States will see new or continued relief for at least the first half of this week, with some areas seeing a continued drop for most of this week."
