DeBien, Murphy Mat All-Americans

A pair of TSSAA state wrestling champions earned Greco-Roman All-American honors earlier this week at the USA Wrestling Cadet Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

Cleveland's Chris DeBien was 10-1 at 120 pounds and placed second, while Baylor's Michael Murphy was 6-3 at 106 pounds and took fourth.

DeBien, a two-time state champ who recently committed to UTC, had seven technical fall wins on his way to the finals before Gabriel Townsell (Illinois) won 7-0 (TF) in the championship match.

Murphy, a 2013 state champ, had four technical falls and two pins. Dylan Duncan (Illinois) posted two wins against Murphy and Quentin Hovis (Arizona) defeated Murphy, 7-0, in the third place match.

DeBien and Murphy will compete in the Freestyle Nationals which start Wednesday.
