Phillips, Frances L. Weeks (Cleveland)

Frances L. Weeks Phillips, 94, of Cleveland, Tennessee, died on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Hospice of Chattanooga.

Frances was born and raised in Soddy Daisy, where she and her late husband of 54 years, J.L. Phillips, raised a family of nine children. She worked in the family businesses and retired from Soddy Daisy High School cafeteria. The couple retired to Dunnellon, Florida, where they lived for 15 years. Mrs. Phillips spent the last 21 years in Cleveland, where she attended Hopewell Baptist Church.  She spent her life volunteering in all of her churches-Daisy Church of God, Citrus Springs Church of God, and Hopewell. She loved family and friends and willingly showed her affection. She also enjoyed reading, travel, and crocheting which she shared generously with those around her.

Also preceding her in death were parents, Bert and Mamie Weeks; brothers, Charles and Raymond Weeks; sister, Elizabeth Fussell; daughter, Edna (Betty) Langley; son, James Bernard Phillips; grandsons, Charles Phillips and Anthony Ingle; son-in-law, Neal Ingle.

Frances is survived by her children, Norma (George) Smith of Cleveland, Ray (Patricia) Phillips of Hixson, Alma Ingle of Rossville, Geneva (Jimmy)  Wease of Albany, GA, Paulette (Tom) Shipley of Huntingtown, MD, Karen Phillips of East Ridge, Joe (Carol) Phillips of Soddy Daisy, 21 living grandchildren and their spouses; 34 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren, son-in-law James (Maxine) Langley; daughter-in-law Peggy Phillips; sisters Hazel (Jensy) Grant, Betty Jean (Carl) Gooden, Patricia (Austin) Swafford, brother J.B. Weeks, and many, many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 28, from 3-9 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ed Eldredge and Reverend Jimmy Wease, on Monday, July 29, with interment to follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hopewell Baptist Church (Maintenance and Building Fund) 188 old Georgetown Road N.W., Cleveland TN 37312.
