Rep. Dean Says He Is Getting Encouragement To Run For Criminal Court Clerk

  • Thursday, August 15, 2013

Rep. Vince Dean said Thursday he is getting encouragement to consider a race for Criminal Court clerk in the 2014 election.

He said, "I have had a number of people ask me to run for that position. I am looking at that, but right now my focus is on serving the needs of the residents of House District 30 and serving as chairman of the Transportation Committee."

Rep. Dean is a Republican. He is the former mayor of East Ridge.

The longtime incumbent, Gwen Tidwell, is a Democrat.

Asked recently if she had switched to the GOP, Ms. Tidwell said she remains a Democrat.

Democrats at one time had a stranglehold on elected offices in Hamilton County, but now Republicans hold most of the posts.

Paula Thompson, a Democrat, is the longtime Circuit Court clerk, but she has announced she is not seeking re-election.
