America Needs To Let Her Wounds Heal

  • Friday, August 30, 2013

We use the term “wounded” to describe those that have physical wounds and/or psychological wounds.

All forms of trauma need time to heal for the wounded to recover. Whenever we’re physically wounded we know we shouldn’t pick at the scab because it keeps the wound inflamed.  A wound doesn’t heal very well when inflamed. If it’s picked at, the wound takes longer to heal. The same is true with a psychological wound, it will not heal if we continue to open it up.

If this country expects to heal its wounds, we must stop reopening them every time we disagree. Unfortunately there are ones among us (from all races) who make their living by keeping old wounds open. They don’t want our wounds to heal, because when they do, these “incessant, scab-picking, antagonists,” will lose their clout.
