Contact Your Legislator Concerning Annexation And Bankruptcy Issues

  • Friday, January 17, 2014

There are a couple of issues before the state legislature that need your attention as soon as possible.  Please consider contacting your state legislators regarding the two issues.  Please do it now, before it's too late.

Please support Mike Carter's efforts to require a referendum prior to any annexation… the citizens being annexed must have the opportunity to decide this issue.   Did you know that there are only three states in the country that allow annexation without first having a referendum?  Let's make that two.

Please support legislation which would prevent the state of Tennessee from assuming the debt / liabilities of any bankrupt city within the state.  Should Tennessee assume this, it would affect our state's bond rating, and ultimately cost us all.

Both of these issues are foundational to preventing the forced oppression of municipalities and to maintaining the financial viability of our state.  It's a 'no brainer' folks…do it now.
