Orchard Knob Elementary Hosts "Trunk Or Treat" Event Oct. 30

  • Monday, October 13, 2014

Orchard Knob Elementary will host its "Trunk or Treat” event on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at  Orchard Knob Elementary School. Participants are asked to decorate a (car or truck) trunk with educational, seasonal, sports, halloween, or organizational decorations as was well as to provide candy, school supplies, or nutritious snacks for children who visit the group's trunk.

The idea behind this event is the same as trick-or-treating from house to house but in a more controlled, safe, and educationally rich environment . The children will stop at each trunk, receive candy, school supplies, nutritional snacks, organizational literature, and may be entertained by the hosting trunk.  The purpose of this event is to provide the children of the Orchard Knob Community with a safe and enjoyable alternative to Halloween door to door trick or treating.

The trucks will be judged by community partners for style and originality. Prizes will be awarded for best trunk. In addition to "Treat in the Trunk “ HCDE and community organizations will provide and distribute information about resources available to parents and students.

PIf you have any questions about the Orchard Knob Community “Treat in the Trunk" or would like to confirm your attendance, please contact Reginald Smith at 209-8422 or Smith_Reginald@hcde.org, or E'tienne F. Easley at 493-0385 or EASLEY_E@HCDE.ORG.
