Hometown Dancing With The Stars Champion Talks About Overcoming Challenges

  • Thursday, October 16, 2014

J.R. Martinez, a Dalton native and champion of Dancing with the Stars, talked with Eastside Elementary fifth-graders Thursday about the challenges he faced growing up.

Martinez didn’t just come to talk. He also listened while several brave students shared their own challenges and helped them understand they are not alone.

People all over the county, the state, the world, all face their own challenges, he said.

Everyone needs help, and everyone gets opportunities to help each other. Everyone has something special to share.

“Everybody’s cool in their own way,” he said.
