Daniel Carter Honored As Member Of Year By Association Of Trust Organizations

Daniel K. Carter, executive vice president and CAO of The Trust Company, was honored at the Association of Trust Organizations annual conference as the 2014 Member of the Year. This award is chosen by the members of the association to recognize not only the honoree's contribution to the association but also their influence and impact on the trust industry.

Mr. Carter has served on the board of ATO for several years and through his efforts has garnered respect and appreciation both personally and professionally, said officials. 

ATO was formed to provide a forum for leaders, owners, and operators of trust organizations to network and grow as an industry. ATO attracts professionals from across the country, providing opportunities for networking, business development, continuing education, and information on industry issues. 

"It is an overwhelming honor to receive this prestigious award,” said Mr. Carter. “It is only through the full support of the Trust Company that I’ve had the opportunity to take a leadership role in the Association of Trust Organizations, which demonstrates our company’s commitment to the industry and our leadership role in it.” 

Mr. Carter has more than 20 years of experience in investment and trust management and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and economics from UTC.  He currently serves as president of the Board of Directors of the Association of Trust Organizations. 

Committed to organizations that serve both the financial services industry as well as the local community, Mr. Carter is a University of Tennessee Chancellor’s associate and serves as secretary of the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership Board.  He is a member of the Knoxville Estate Planning Council and business clubs Nucleus Knoxville and Leadership Knoxville; he has previously held board positions with Ijams Nature Center, Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern Tennessee, and Salvation Army.

Founded in 1987, The Trust Company is the oldest independent trust company headquartered in Tennessee, with more than $2.3 billion in assets under management and 60 employees in offices in Knoxville, Johnson City, and Chattanooga.
