UTC Moc My Ride Bikes Hit The Streets

  • Monday, October 6, 2014

As part of UTC’s homecoming celebration, Bike Chattanooga and UTC partnered together to launch its first bike design contest called Moc My Ride. The contest was an open competition inviting UTC students to create a unique bike design to be displayed and “wrapped” on five special bikes. Students were asked to submit bike art based on what being a Chattanooga Moc means to them, what inspires them to ride, and what makes Chattanooga so unique and a cool place to live.

The top three design finalists were chosen from the many applications, with students having the final vote for the winner. The winning design was awarded to Mikey Clavin, whose design shows off UTC Moc pride, celebrates the beauty of the city, and has a classic and engaging look.

“With the announcement of the Moc My Ride bike design winner, we are encouraging everyone in the City to find it on the street, snap a photo, and post it using the hashtag #MocMyRide”, explained Marketing Manager Joannah Burkhardt. The newly-designed bikes will be easy to spot amongst the already blue and green fleet.

The bikes were released into the system on Saturday just before the UTC Homecoming Football game. The more someone engages with the bikes, the more chances they have to win prizes. Prizes include UTC gear, Climbing passes to Urban Rocks, free Bike Chattanooga three-day passes, T-shirts, and many more.

Bike Chattanooga is made possible through the continued strong support of Outdoor Chattanooga and the City of Chattanooga Transportation Dept, CARTA, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency, and current sponsors: BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, the Chattanooga History Center, and the Tennessee Aquarium.
