Derick Xan Bartlett, 49, of Apison, died on Thursday, November 20, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 11, 1965, and was a student and resident of Orange Grove from 1974 to 2012.  In 2012, he moved to the Keithcare Group Home and resided there until his death. Derick was a participant in the Special Olympics and was an avid traveler.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Wallace Bartlett.

Survivors include his father, Robert C. (Patricia) Bartlett; mother, Barbara Brady; sister, Tracie Leigh Bartlett (Eric) Clifford; brother, Joseph (Stacie) Smith; sister, Jennifer (Russ) Bridges and 13 nieces and nephews, Jessica (Mark) Michelson, Joseph Wallace Bartlett, II, Megan Bartlett, Josiah Robert (Kaliegh) Sherrill, Jacob Bartlett, Alanis Bridges, Alexander Clifford, Ian Bridges, Sullivan, Fisher, Reef and Wilder Smith and Madelyn Sherrill.

A memorial service will be held in May of 2015.

There will be no services or visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Ooltewah Harrison Educational Foundation, 4779 Rosebriar Lane, Ooltewah, Tn. 37363.
