DesJarlais Statement On House Suit Against Obama Administration

  • Friday, November 21, 2014

Congressman Scott DesJarlais issued the following statement regarding the House filing suit against the Obama Administration regarding the Affordable Care Act:

“Time and time again, President Obama has asserted authority he doesn’t have simply because he disagrees with the law of the land. This is true with his recent actions on immigration and it is true with his implementation of Obamacare. His job requirements entail executing the laws Congress creates or amends, not unilaterally acting to implement partisan policies.

“The Judiciary has played an important role throughout our history in providing a constitutional check on the administration’s abuse of power. It is my hope that justice will prevail here and the Obama administration will be held accountable for their blatant misuse of power in implementing Obamacare. ”

The House Rules Committee approved a resolution authorizing Speaker Boehner to file a lawsuit on behalf of the House against President Obama for his use of executive actions in July.
