Dawsonville's McIntosh Wins At Boyd's Speedway

  • Sunday, November 23, 2014

New team; new winner...Saturday night Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., (home of NASCAR's Chase & Bill Elliott) sped into the lead at Boyd's Speedway and held off "The Georgia Giant" Shane Clanton to win the Turkey Gobble 50.

Thirty one race teams attempted to make the race, but it was all the Blount Motorsports driver in the #7 "Massey Electric, Cherokee Millwright, Blount Excavating, Tennessee RV, Stowers CAT Machinery Corp., Arnold Trucking, GEO Services, Insurance Partners, VP Racing Fuels, Wine & Spirits Cellar" sponsored Rocket / Vic Hill Racing Engines powered machine that would dominate the $5,000 to-WIN season finale.

McIntosh replaced longtime Blount Motorsports driver Billy Ogle Jr. (who finished a solid 8th place with his new team) back in September and had high praise for Larry Garner and his new team in National Title Pawn Victory Lane for continuing to believe in his abilities, despite a rough start.

Huntsville's Dylan Ames (the nights Fast Qualifier and Pole Starter) finished third, just ahead of Friday's winner Riley Hickman and fellow Tennesseean Mike Marlar.

Thus will conclude the 2014 racing season in the Tennessee Valley/North Georgia area. However, many teams do race through the holidays and the winter months in South Georgia and Florida until the next season picks back up in March.
