Alec Johnson
Alec Macaine Johnson, 15, of Hixson, died on Thursday, November 6, 2014.
Alec was in the ninth grade at Hixson High School where he played basketball, was a member of the Beta Club and was a member of the gifted program. He was recruited by the Duke University Stars Program every year since the third grade for his mathematical abilities and was also an accomplished drummer and fisherman. Alec was a member of the Northwest Georgia Christian Church.
Alec is survived by his mother and step dad, Kris and Christy Simmons, father and stepmother, Dennis and Kim Johnson, siblings, Wimberly Hall, Grayson and Jace Simmons, Austin Johnson, Hunter and Logan Parton, grandparents, Susan and Wayne Hall, Richard (pawpaw) Johnson, Linda and Jonathan Gaddy, Billy and Libby Simmons, and Linda Bailey. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m. for family and 5-8 p.m. for friends. Services will be Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Hixson Campus of Stuart Heights Baptist Church with a celebration of life at 1 p.m. with David Ivarson officiating. The committal service will be held at the Westhill Cemetery in Dalton with Timothy Parker officiating.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
