Prep Wrestling: Three Tourneys This Weekend

A trio of long-standing prep wrestling tournaments at Bradley Central, McCalllie and Chattanooga Christian highlight the last weekend of mat action before Christmas.

The Bradley and McCallie Invitationals are today and Saturday, while the Charger Invitational is held Saturday.

Bradley Central - Defending champ and defending D-II state traditional winner Father Ryan is the favorite along with host Bradley Central and defending A-AA state champs Hixson in the 30-team field.

The Purple Irish from Nashville are led by state champ Eli King.

Friday: First matches at 5 p.m. ... Finals are Saturday afternoon - 3 p.m..

McCallie - Pope (Ga.), D-I AAA state champion Cleveland and Soddy Daisy are among the team favorites for the 34th annual tourney along with Georgia state champion Cambridge (5A), Cass (4A state runner-up), Alexander (4A third place) and Woodland (4th place in 5A(. .

Wrestling starts Friday at 5:30 p.m, with Saturday championship semis at 11 a.m. and finals at 3:30 p.m.

Track Wrestling: All results can be found on trackwrestling.com and finals will be broadcast live on the McCallie School web site.

Salvation Army Toy Drive: Collection bins will be at the two main entrances ... SA needs bicycles among other items.

Charger Invitational: Defending champion Summit HS and Red Bank are the favorites in the 21-team field.

First matches start Saturday at 9 a.m.  The tourney was originally hosted by Chattanooga City HS and later Lookout Valley HS before moving to CCS in recent years.
