Betty Gene Smith Brown, 76, of LaFayette, died on Saturday, December 20, 2014.

She was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was of the Church of God faith. Betty graduated from LaFayette High School in 1957 before graduating from Albany Vocational School in 1962 as an L.P.N.Betty also worked for Synthetic Ind. for 10 yrs. Before retiring in 2000. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be missed greatly.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Smith and Martha Smith Cooper, and sister, Annie Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Johnny Mack Brown, Sr.; children, Johnny Mack Brown, Jr., Barbara Ann (Todd) Holt, and Joseph Eugene Brown; grandchildren, Jesica Nicole (Anthony) Mitchell, Natasha Lynn Brown, David Allen Holt and Kristen (Caleb) Ziegler; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Evan, Braden, Easton, and Charlotte "Charlie".

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Allen Farris officiating. Interment will follow in West Hills Cemetery, Trion.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 3-8 p.m. and prior to the service on Tuesday.
