Retro TV Adds Police Surgeon

  • Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Luken Communications has added the classic medical-crime drama Police Surgeon to Retro TV’s programming lineup.

Police Surgeon, originally known as Dr. Simon Locke, initially broadcast from 1971-1974. Dr. Simon Locke’s storyline focused on the young Dr. Locke (Sam Groom, All My Children) as he assists veteran Dr. Andrew Sellers (Jack Albertson, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) in the fictional small town of Dixon Mills. After the series was renamed Police Surgeon, Dr. Locke moved to the big city where he continued to solve crimes involving medical research.

Series regulars included Len Birman (Silver Streak), Nuala Fitzgerald (Anne of Avonlea) and Larry D. Mann (In the Heat of the Night). Guest stars of series included William Shatner (Star Trek), Leslie Nielsen (The Naked Gun), Donald Pleasence (Halloween) and Keenan Wynn (Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb).

Matthew Golden, Luken’s vice president of Programming, said, “Retro TV is excited to return Police Surgeon to the airwaves, exploring the intersection between medicine and crime with a classic ‘70s flavor. Beginning next year, audiences will be able to rediscover this classic CTV drama for the first time in more than four decades.”

Police Surgeon will debut on Retro TV in second quarter of 2015.
