The Governor’s Commission for Judicial Appointments has extended the time period for applicants in the Western and Eastern Grand Divisions to seek a position on the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
The deadline is now Friday at noon CDT for interested applicants living in the Eastern and Western Grand Divisions of Tennessee.
The application period for interested candidates in the Middle Division has closed, with ten applying. Those candidates who will be interviewed by the Commission are:

Candidates ultimately chosen by the Governor to fill the vacancy will take one of three terms: two, four, or six years. After the initial terms, each term will be six years and judges are limited to serving two terms. The annual salary for the position is $106,000. Offices will be located in Knoxville or Chattanooga for the Eastern Division; Nashville for the Middle Division; and Jackson or Memphis for the Western Division.
The Governor’s Commission for Judicial Appointments will interview all qualified applicants on June 10 in Nashville at Legislative Plaza, HR 16, 6th Avenue North. The meeting will include a public hearing starting at approximately 1 p.m., following the morning session for the Court of Criminal Appeals selection. The public hearing, during which members of the public may express their opinions about the applicants, as well as the interviews that follow will be open to the public.
Applicants for the Eastern and Western Grand Divisions must complete the designated application, which is available at www.tncourts.gov, and submit it to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon CDT on Friday.
Any interested applicant must be an attorney licensed in Tennessee who is at least 30 years of age, have a Tennessee law license, have at least seven years experience in workers’ compensation matters and must attend annual training on workers’ compensation.
