GDOL To Host Job Training Recruitment In Dalton Aug. 5

  • Tuesday, July 22, 2014

The Georgia Department of Labor will host a special recruitment for job seekers who qualify for OJT, a federal on-the-job training program to help get unemployed workers back into the labor force. The recruitment will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dalton Career Center, 1460 Chattanooga Ave.

The OJT program was established by the U.S. Department of Labor through the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. The Workforce Investment Board of Northwest Georgia administers the OJT program in the northwest Georgia region.

To qualify for OJT, candidates must have proof of being a dislocated worker or be considered low income.

Proof of being dislocated would include receiving or having exhausted unemployment insurance benefits, or having a separation notice (DOL 800 form) from a previous employer for “lack of work.” Documentation for proof of low-income status could include receiving public assistance, such as food stamps.

The participants must also live or have worked in the northwest Georgia area, including Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Walker, or Whitfield counties.

Those attending the recruitment should bring a valid driver’s license and U.S. Social Security card to the recruitment. More information on the OJT program may be obtained by visiting the website at www.careerdepot.org

For additional information about the recruitment, contact the Dalton Career Center at (706) 272-2301.

Another OJT recruitment will be held at the GDOL Cartersville Career Center on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
