Joseph Dennis Careathers, 69, of LaFayette, GA, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at a local health care facility.
He was a graduate of Hill High School, A U. S. Army Veteran and attended Cove Road Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dennis and Esther Burse Careathers; and two brothers, Benny and Billy Careathers.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy C. Salters of Durham, NC and Tameika C. Hamler of Cincinnati, OH; son, Frederick Careathers of Adairsville, GA; sister, Sandra (Ernest) Bailey of Madison, GA; brother, Minister Paul (Johnequia) Careathers; uncles, J.L. (Flossie) Burse and James Burse, both of Lafayette and Phillip (Bertha) Burse of Fort Oglethorpe; aunts, Bessie Morris of Chattanooga and Gustaivia Clemons of Kensington, GA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at Cove Road Church of God with Minister Paul Careathers, Rev. Jerry L. Burse, and other ministers officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday, July 29.
