Frank Lloyd Parks, Sr., 80, of Summerville, Ga., died on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Parks was born Feb. 8, 1934, in Mineola, NY, son of the late George Everett Parks and Ramona Xiques Parks. He was self-employed on Wall Street as a stockbroker and financial advisor, and in later years, as a contractor. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Drill Instructor and served in the Korean War. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He also served as a Packmaster with the Cub Scouts of America in Suffolk County, NY where he raised more money than any other Cub Scout Leader.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Parks was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Mr. Parks is survived by his wife, Ellen Lorraine Sims-Parks; children, Kerrie Lynn Parks-Bowie, Frank Lloyd Parks, Jr., Stephanie Keller Dennis, and Laura Beth Sims; a sister, Ruth Wright; grandchildren, Amy and Paul Priest, Allison and Brad McConnell, Brandon Bowie, Jessica and Josh Green, Zach Dennis, Alleigha Dennis, Taylor Sims, and Layla Sims; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Parks will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marvin Richardson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Larry LuAllen, Tim LuAllen, Josh Green, Jason Green, Paul Priest, Taylor Sims, Zach Dennis, Brandon Bowie, and Brad McConnell. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Kellett, Chuck Hammonds, Norman Bryant, Dennis Bryant, Alan Bryant, and Anthony Bryant.

Mr. Parks will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Sunday.
