Charles Card Espy, 60, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014.
He was born on April 22, 1954 to the late Robert “Bob” and Martha Espy. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and had many hobbies and loves. He loved to hunt, fish, having cars and hot rods, and any type of racing. He was known as the “Lawnmower Man” for many reasons: because of his love for mowing grass, and the fact that he raced lawnmowers. He was a very generous person and would help anyone in need. His family and friends were his life and he cherished them dearly. His grandfather owned Honest Charlie’s Speed Shop, which Charles was named after.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Espy.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Melissa Espy; step-daughter, Samantha Bond; sister, Amy Lombardo (Joe); sister-in-law Zee Espy; and three nephews, Casey Espy (Courtney), Tanner Espy (Maegan) and Logan Espy; and many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, at the Heritage House located at 1428 Jenkins Road, Chattanooga.
Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
