Joyce Katherine Staten, 82, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord and John W. Staten, the love of her life, on Sunday, August 31, 2014.

 

Mrs. Staten was born in Pleasantville, New Jersey to Lewis and Marguerite Casto.  She later moved to the Chattanooga area where she graduated from Lee College and the University of Tennessee.  She was also a former school teacher at North Whitfield. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John W. Staten.

 

Surviving are her children, Rodney (Beverly) Staten, Dana Staten, Beth Staten, Mark Staten, and Eric (Rebecca) Staten; grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Jonathan, Travis, Cameron, Jessica, Rebecca, Sarah, Katie, and Daniel; seven great-grandchildren; and special friend, Dennis Varner.

 

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 on Tuesday and 12 Noon to 1 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating.

 

Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
