5-Year-Old Hit By Vehicle On Glass Street Ran Out In Front Of Car, Police Say; Driver Not Charged

A five-year-old boy who was hit by a vehicle on Tuesday night ran out in front of the car, police said.

The driver, who stopped after the incident, will not be charged.

The child was not seriously hurt.

At approximately 6:39 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 2549 Glass St.

It was found that a child was struck by a passing motorist while several children were playing in the roadway.

Officers were advised by EMS personnel, minutes before the child was struck, that several children were playing in the roadway at the location and one had nearly run in front of an ambulance.

The child suffered minor (non-emergency) road rash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
