British cars and bikes of all descriptions will be on display in Rugby, Tennessee, Aug. 23 as Historic Rugby celebrates its U.K. roots with a British Motorcar and Motorbike Show free to spectators.

In this fourth year for the show, visitors can expect to see more variety than ever before. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT or 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Central.

“Last year saw a large number of MG’s including five T series from the early 1950s,” said show organizer Charlie Bunnell with the co-sponsoring Plateau British Car Club. “They all arrived under their own steam. Jaguar, Triumph, Austin-Healy and the original Mini were all represented as well as the less common Ariel, Lotus, Sunbeam and Rover.”

There is no admission or parking charge for spectators, who will be able to stroll among the cars and talk with owners. English or American style food, including barbecue, is available from Rugby’s Harrow Road Café or from vendors with cobbler and Italian ice. Antique, craft and souvenir items are featured in Rugby’s shops.

Early registration of entrants is ongoing, with a reduced registration fee until Aug. 16. Registration forms are available at www.pbcctn.org/Rugby. For other details, contact Bunnell at rugby@pbcctn.org or 931 210-3732 or 931 210-3742.

Historic Rugby will offer exhibitors free guided tours of key buildings in the 1880 British-American village. A ranger with the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will provide all visitors with free guided hikes in Rugby’s river gorges at 1 p.m./Noon Central both weekend days. A complimentary exhibit of historic river photos is on display in Rugby’s new ranger station, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT each Saturday and Sunday through September.

Rugby is just off state Highway 52 between U.S. 127 and U.S. 27, on the southern boundary of the Big South Fork park. More information about the site and lodging details can be found online at www.historicrugby.org.
