Desperation Band

Desperation Band will perform the first concert for Lee University’s fall U-Church series on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.

Desperation Band began in 2001 as a youth movement for local churches by New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colo. The band now hosts summer conferences and offers internships and leads worship at events and weekly services. The band is composed of New Life’s youth worship pastor Jon Egan along with Jared Henderson, Matt Pacco, Roderick Mendoza, Regan Cruz, Dan Egan and Nico Perez.

The group has played at Christian music festivals around the country, including Creation East and Kingdom Bound. They have also been featured on Teen Mania’s Acquire the Fire Christian music events around the country.

“The Desperation Band has always been and always will be about the presence of God," said Egan, band leader.  "We exist to bring Him glory and reveal His truth to a broken world.  If we know who He is, we know who we are. If we know who we are, we can live as God meant for us to live. It’s all about His purposes.”

The band’s five critically-acclaimed albums include a self-titled debut, “From the Rooftops,” “Who You Are,” “Everyone Overcome,” and their latest, “Light Up The World.” All of Desperation Band’s albums are recorded live at New Life Church and feature, “high-energy, passionate new worship songs that convey the hunger of their generation for God.”

Desperation has written many hits, such as “Amazed,” “Rescue,” “I Am Free,” “My Savior Lives,” “Overcome,” and more.

Integrity Music, the band’s recording label, said that the group “does not perform or entertain. They want to join with real people to worship a real God.”

U-Church is a free, non-ticketed event for students, alumni and the community. Seating is first-come, first-serve, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Childcare is available for all who attend.  Please contact Christie Wyatt at cwyatt@leeuniversity.edu  for more information.
