Lynn Blackburn Armstrong, 88, of Hixson, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014.

Lynn was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in Transportation and Business Administration.  Lynn worked for several motor carriers but primarily with Yellow Freight System, where he was terminal manager for 25 years. He was a member of the Wesley Memorial Church and  the Multiple Sclerosis society where he received the caregiver of the year award in 1994. Lynn was also a member of the Valleybrook Golf Club and was an avid golfer. He was an Army veteran having served in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Janie Rogers Armstrong and his parents, Darek and Ruth Burkhart Armstrong of Knoxville. 

Lynn is survived by his daughter, Jean and husband John McHarge, of Littleton, Co.; three sons, David and wife Cindy Armstrong, of San Diego; Joel and wife Courtney Armstrong, of Chattanooga; Steve and wife Gina Armstrong, of Athens, Al.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home. 

Contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Heart Association. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
