SouthEast Bank and Bryan College announce that three students have been selected to receive the SouthEast Bank Scholar award for the 2014-2015 academic year. This scholarship will provide each student with $7,000 annually to offset the cost of tuition and assist in accomplishing academic and personal goals.

President Stephen Livesay said, “We are thrilled for our three students who are the recipients of this generous scholarship from SouthEast Bank.  SouthEast has added a third scholarship this year, and we are very grateful for the Scholars program that provides opportunities for our local students.  The Scholars Awards make it possible for these excellent students to continue their education and upon graduation contribute to the economic health of our community and state.”

The program is designed to recognize and reward outstanding students seeking higher education in Tennessee, underwriting tuition expenses for qualified incoming freshmen at participating colleges and universities statewide. SouthEast Bank, with total assets in excess of $500 million, operates full service banking offices throughout the regions of East and Middle Tennessee.

Recipients of the SouthEast Bank Scholars include a group of incoming students from Tennessee chosen by participating post-secondary institutions for their character and academic commitment. In addition to meeting the minimum criteria of achieving a 3.25 high school grade point average or a 23 ACT score, students who are awarded this distinct honor have also demonstrated financial need and community involvement.

The bank’s senior vice president, Randy Wells, remarked, “SouthEast Bank is proud to support Bryan College in awarding scholarships through SouthEast Bank Scholars to help keep our future leaders right here in Tennessee.”

Mr. Wells expressed the significance of providing this scholarship to Bryan’s students. “We are a true community bank operated by local employees who live and work alongside the people we serve.  We are committed to reinvesting in our local schools, organizations, and neighborhoods. We at SouthEast Bank are excited to reward outstanding students who demonstrate a combination of academic excellence, community service, and financial need with the opportunity to reach their greatest potential through higher education.”

“On behalf of our students and community,” said Dr. Livesay, “thank you, Monty Montgomery, Randy Wells, and SouthEast Bank, for your vision with this program.”
